This is my 11th year teaching, 19 years working in education. Earning my degree in Sociology with a Law and Society Option along with my credential at California State University, Los Angeles; I've worked as a Paraeducator for SDC, Behavior Specialist for children with Autism, and the last 10 years as a History and Ethnic Studies teacher for grades 6-8th.
As an advocate for education, I enjoy watching my students actively participate in class to show they are learning and having fun while doing so. I expect nothing but their hardest effort, excuses are not an option when a student continues to try their very best! I strive to build a classroom environment that embraces inclusion and effective classroom management that is conducive to learning. With a focus on rigor and student-centered learning, my lessons are designed to be culturally responsive and encourage cognitive engagement. I encourage diversity, equity, and inclusiveness to students and discuss topics that help socially construct, and affect their lives and the lives of others. I have been married for seven years now and our daughter, Madison, will be starting Kindergarten. I enjoy all kinds of music, and taking road trips and I LOVE shopping, my favorite stores are Target, Staples and Dollar Tree. I enjoy spending my free time with friends and family, especially with my nieces and nephews. My most precious time is being with my daughter and watching her learn and grow.
